The world is getting more and more populated with every passing day and the majority of this population is getting deprived of clean and safe drinking water. People want to know about different water purification technologies so that they may be able to provide clean and safe drinking water to their families.
In fact, water purification technology is somewhat difficult to understand, but people need to understand what kind of water purification system will serve the best in their homes. Though the authorities use such water purification technologies that make it certain to supply clean water at your home, it can’t be guaranteed that the water you use in your home is pure, safe and without contaminants.
A variety of methods are used to purify water and here is the list some commonly used methods.
1) Distillation
Distillation is being used for quite a long time to purify water and it is considered the simplest method for water purification. In this method, water is heated until it begins to boil and turns into vapors. A separate container is used to collect and cool these vapors where they take their liquid form again. There are many disadvantages associated with this method as boiling often becomes the cause to deprive water of it minerals and proves ineffective against many harmful chemicals. Distillation is considered more suitable for industries than homes as it requires a lot of care and maintenance.
2) Reverse Osmosis
Many people believe that Reverse osmosis is the latest method of water purification. Initially, this system was designed for commercial use, but now it has been redesigned to use at home. If you are considering opting for this technology for you home, you need to consider it again as this technology consumes a lot of electricity, prove ineffective in removing bacteria and removes essential minerals from water.
3) Chlorination
In past water-borne diseases like typhoid and cholera used to claim thousands of lives in twinkling of an eye, but with the use of chlorine as disinfectant, these diseases have become a past story. But these days, there are many such chemical toxins and parasites are found in the water as can’t be handled with chlorine.
4) UV Radiation
UV radiation is not a common system to purify water and remove different bacteria and germs from water. This technology is considered most advance and quite cost effective as well, but it has not been deigned to use at home.
5) Carbon filtration
This method is known as one of the most effective water purification methods and it can be used in both commercial and home settings. It improves the taste of water, needs not electricity and removes chemical toxins and bad odors from water.
6) Multi-stage Filtration
Many different technologies are used under this water purification technology and that’s why it is called multi-stage filtration. To produce most purified water, carbon filtration, sub-micron filtration and ion exchange are used and it can remove a large number of chemicals and other microorganisms from water without disturbing its mineral balance.
